  • Easy to stretch into 5 days if you want more breathing room

Getting There + Where to Stay

Flights are abundant to NYC. For us, a quick direct flight from Indianapolis to NYC-Kennedy was quick and painless. There is no need to worry about renting a car for your NYC vacation because using public transit is part of the whole experience! We even took the subway, luggage and all, from the airport to our hotel, and it was surprisingly simple.

Tip: I suggest mapping your course from the airport to your hotel in advance to alleviate stress.

For our stay, we chose to splurge a bit—and it was 100% worth it. Park Lane Hotel New York is a chic, comfortable, well-located hotel, especially near Central Park. Staying near Central Park made the entire trip feel more relaxed and enabled us to decompress each evening. Given the amount of sightseeing you will do, a nice landing spot each night away from the lights and sounds was perfect for our family. Plus, the view of Central Park was gorgeous!

New York City Pass

I advise getting a NY City Pass for each family member to receive a discount on top NY attractions. For one fee, you can choose admission to 5 attractions including the Empire State Building Observatory, American Museum of Natural History, Top of the Rock, Statue of Liberty and more. Be sure to read the fine print once you purchase. Some attractions still require that you reserve a timed ticket.
